More than 250,000 flowering bulbs, dogwoods, azaleas and rhododendron await residents and visitors as Hamilton Township plans to celebrate its annual Azalea Festival on Mothers Day.
The annual festival is scheduled to take place from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday, May 10, in Sayen Gardens, located at the corner of Hughes Drive and Mercer Street in Hamilton Square. There is no cost of admission to the azalea festival.
Visitors will be able to enjoy a showcase of azalea blooms, music, crafters, food and activities for children, which include sand art, face-painting and a Moonbounce.
Fees paid for from the private vendors in attendance that day and sponsorships through the Mayor’s Recreation and Community Events Sponsorship Initiative will allow the Azalea Festival to continue without any expense to township taxpayers, which includes overtime employee costs that are associated with the event.
In addition to the Azalea Festival, visitors will have an opportunity to tour the Sayen House. The house and grounds can be rented for a variety of functions and gatherings, such wedding receptions, bar and bat mitzvahs, private parties, holiday parties, showers, business meetings and luncheons. Outside ceremonies may also be arranged with special permission.
Parking for the Azalea Festival will be available adjacent to Sayen Gardens in the Nottingham Fire Company parking lot, located at 200 Mercer St.
For questions about the Azalea Festival, residents can call the Division of Recreation at (609) 890-4028 during weekdays between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m.
